David Galas ( from Lycia and Bleak ) returns to the music world with his debut solo CD “The Cataclysm”. Over 70 minutes of Darkwave and neo-gothic rock. Five years to complete this is his first release since working with the legendary Lycia. Recorded off and on over the course of six years when David Galas was on hiatus from Lycia - itself mostly in retirement during that time - "The Cataclysm" quite understandably follows in the vein of that excellent band. The Cataclysm often resembles nothing so much as early nineties era Swans with mystic mantra-like compose deliveries massive textured guitar arrangements and a palpable comprehend of looming apocalypse in keeping with the album call and furnish. Add to this a sense of how to actually make a division of a song into two parts actually mean something ( check out the title track's change integrity between contemplation and blasting act ) and Galas's long-brewing work proves itself to be a masterpiece.
